Why Dave Ramsey?
Peter and his wife Brittney used to do things the normal way. They had half a dozen credit cards, student loans, and a 30 year mortgage. Peter even had the bright idea (ha!) to refinance their car because rates were so low it was "free money". On top of making minimum payments on all these debts, they were trying to save for retirement, their kids college, and so on. They felt like they were pushing with all their might against a granite mountain. The effort was there, but nothing was moving, and it always felt like there was too much month at the end of their money, regardless of how much their income increased.
That changed in a big way when Peter and Brittney both went all-in on the Babysteps. Within two years they were done with Babysteps 1-3 and had refinanced to a 15 year mortgage. Ever since then, they have experienced financial peace and are consistently on the same page with money.
After launching Finn Wealth Management, Peter decided to become a Dave Ramsey SmartVestor to help other people follow a similar path to true financial freedom.
The Dave Ramsey Babysteps are a behavioral finance strategy designed to move people toward greater financial independence by quickly paying down consumer debt, building an emergency fund, saving for retirement and other goals, paying off their home early, and eventually being totally debt free with the ability to live and give like no one else.
The emphasis should be on the "behavioral" part, as Dave readily admits that there times when his approach is not mathematically perfect, but the whole idea is that the Babysteps work because they get people to actually take action. That's important because even if you are on the right track, you will never get anywhere if you are standing still.
How does the SmartVestor program work?
The Dave Ramsey SmartVestor program is an advertising system to connect Financial Advisors with like-minded investors. Advisor participation in the program requires an interview by Dave Ramsey's team to ensure shared values, sufficient qualifications, and a clean record.
